tOM renzi
fire chief
Chief Renzi has lived in the Spokane area since 1980. Both their children went to WSU. Go Cougs! Chief Renzi was a firefighter and Safety Lieutenant with Spokane County Fire District 4 for 32 years. When he retired in 2023 and moved to Priest Lake full time he was able to devote more time to East Priest Lake Fire District. The Renzi’s have been coming to Priest Lake since 1980 and still love it up here.
Tom Clevenger has been coming to Priest Lake for 70 years enjoying his grandparent’s dream of having a family vacation cottage.
He worked in the communications industry for 30 years with seven of those years at Priest Lake as the service technician. After retiring from the communications industry he became a flight attendant for nine years.
Tom volunteered to be one of three East Priest Lake Fire District commissioners and serves as chairman of the board of commissioners. He also is a district volunteer firefighter.
Keith was born and raised in Orofino, Idaho and started coming to Priest Lake in the early 50’s with his folks who bought a cabin in 1956. Many enjoyable summers and winter snowmobile trips were spent at the old cabin. In 2019 the 105 year old cabin was replaced with a new home and he has been living full time at the lake since then. Keith joined EPLFD as a volunteer firefighter shortly after its formation and is currently serving as a captain and a commissioner.
Ann McKinstry has spent 35+ years in the healthcare field, primarily focused on pediatric patient quality and safety measures. She has been enjoying time at Priest Lake annually since she was a child, just as her father did before her. Ann now spends quality time lakeside with her husband and family, attempting to take no day in this cherished paradise for granted. When asked if she would submit her name for Fire Commissioner, she was happy to assist her community and to join others in taking next steps to advance fire and medical response coverage for everyone.
As we have entered into a new year and put another one behind us, we are thrilled to share the progress we’ve made and the hope we have for the future.
18 fantastic volunteers that responded to the community last year 24 times and 5 Support Personnel.
Just to name a few of the incidents:
Structure Fire Call
Landing Zone Setups
Small Aircraft Crash
Fire Boat: Search & Rescue call plus stranded boater calls
Down Power Lines
MVA & ATV Fire
Wildland Fire Calls
From the calls we had last year and the continued training we take, we are looking forward to serving our community in 2026 and beyond.
